EIP-1559 업그레이드는 동적 기본 수수료 메커니즘을 도입하여 각 트랜잭션마다 ETH를 소각하며, 네트워크 활동이 많을 때 검증자에게 발행되는 ETH보다 더 많은 ETH가 소각되어 디플레이션 압력을 만듭니다. Vitalik Buterin은 2013년 Ethereum을 제안했지만, Gavin Wood(Solidity 및 EVM 기술 사양 생성)와 Joseph Lubin(ConsenSys 설립)을 포함한 7명의 공동 창립자가 구축을 도왔습니다. 프로젝트는 2015년 7월에 1800만 1800만 달러 이상의 크라우드펀딩을 통해 출시되었으며, 빠르게 가장 큰 블록체인 개발자 커뮤 커뮤니티가 되었습니다. 주요 이정표로는 2020년 Beacon Chain 출시, 2021년 London 하드 포크(수수료 소각 구현), 2022년 Proof of Stake로의 Merge가 있습니다.
