Dogecoin
Dogecoin es una moneda digital de código abierto basada en el meme "Doge" que funciona como un medio peer-to-peer para pagos rápidos y propinas digitales. A diferencia de proyectos respaldados por entidades corporativas, su valor es impulsado por una comunidad global, y el proyecto es gestionado por un grupo descentralizado de voluntarios y la Fundación Dogecoin sin fines de lucro, en lugar de una empresa formal. Creado originalmente en 2013 por los ingenieros de software Billy Markus y Jackson Palmer como una parodia del mercado, el proyecto no tuvo ninguna venta pública ni rondas de capital de riesgo. La red opera como un fork de LuckyCoin, que a su vez era un fork de Litecoin, utilizando un mecanismo de consenso de prueba de trabajo (proof of work). Emplea el algoritmo Scrypt para garantizar que el proceso de minería sea rápido y eficiente, con nuevos bloques procesados cada 60 segundos. Una característica técnica única es el uso de minería combinada (merged mining), que permite a los mineros asegurar Dogecoin simultáneamente con otras redes basadas en Scrypt como Litecoin.
