SecondFi discloses security incident
SecondFi confirms a security breach, states root cause is isolated, and moves platform into secure maintenance mode.
A security incident involving the SecondFi wallet (formerly Yoroi) on Cardano led to unauthorized draining of approximately 16M ADA from 374 addresses. The Cardano network itself was not compromised, and emergency measures secured 129M ADA for return to affected users.
The SecondFi wallet, a rebranded version of Yoroi developed by Emurgo, had a vulnerability that exposed seed phrases, allowing attackers to drain funds. The incident was detected and partially mitigated through a white hat intervention.
Approximately 129M ADA was rescued and is being returned to affected users via a claims process. The remaining 16M ADA is considered lost. Investigations are ongoing.
