Crossmint has obtained a Payment Institution authorization under the EU's PSD2 directive, adding to its existing MiCA CASP license. This makes Crossmint the first stablecoin infrastructure provider operating under both regulatory frameworks in the EU, enabling stablecoin products across all 27 member states.
The European Union's MiCA regulation came into full effect on July 1, 2026, requiring crypto asset service providers to obtain CASP licenses. Crossmint already held a CNMV-issued CASP license and has now completed the PSD2 payment institution authorization to offer payment services, achieving full-stack regulatory coverage.
Crossmint can now legally offer stablecoin infrastructure services across all 27 EU countries under both MiCA and PSD2 frameworks, a first for the industry.
